About Us

The Laura Miller George Help Center is a resource for our community and county, we exist to serve our friends and neighbors. We do that by providing supplemental food to anyone who needs food, without judgement and always with respect for the person asking.

We offer a valuable service through the operation of our Thrift Store, which provides anyone and everyone with access to gently used and affordable clothing as well as household goods.

We are a Salvation Army extension unit, and as such we provide limited emergency financial assistance to people and families struggling to make ends meet. We assist people with completion of applications for SNAP, Energy Assistance, Social Security, and many others.

We can provide diapers on a once per month basis to families for their children. If a person or family has experienced a loss and doesn't have enough clothing, we will provide that at no cost.

This is why The Laura Miller George Help Center exists, to serve our friends and neighbors.

We are able to do that because of the tremendous support we receive from our community and county. That support looks like, over 1000 volunteer hours each month, tremendous donations to our thrift store of clothing and household items, donations of food, diapers, and personal hygiene products. And financial support from individuals, churches, community clubs and organizations, from charitable foundations such as The Edmonston Foundation, The United Way of Audrain County, The Leach Foundation, and many, many, more who give what they can.

Every single donation matters, whether it is time, clothing, food , or financial, everything together makes what we do possible.

We are not just a food pantry or just a thrift store, we are a community resource, staffed by people who care.
