We have brand new hours for the Thrift Store for your shopping convenience!! We are now open from 9:00am-5:00pm, Monday - Friday of each week. We appreciate everyone's support and patronage.
We highly encourage social distancing, the wearing of face masks (which we will supply to you while shopping), we have a hand sanitizer stand for your use and we clean the carts often, all in an effort to prevent further spread of the coronavirus.
Please take note: We accept donations of clothing and household items on Mondays & Tuesdays only, from 9:00am-4:00pm. Please take them to the rear of the building to door # 2 where you can enter and drop off your donation. We are grateful for each donation of usable clothing and household items that we can sell at inexpensive costs to help support our food pantry.
Our Thrift Store is at the core of all we do. It is a support mechanism for the Food Pantry and is also just as important. It allows us to provide basic necessities such as clothing. By providing clothing and household items when someone loses everything, it restores a measure of dignity. We are truly blessed by the continual support and trust of the citizens of Audrain County who donate their used clothing and household goods to us with the faith in us that we will use the proceeds from the sale of these items to serve our fellow citizens. We intake, sort, and display all our donated items in a professional manner and offer them at very low prices so that everyone can have the dignity of being able to provide clothing and other items for their families.
None of this would be possible without our fantastic volunteers!! Their gift of time, talent and compassion makes it all possible. Want to join our team? We have opportunities for everyone. Please go to the volunteering tab on this website for more information.

The Community Garden Program
Come Garden with Us!
Anyone interested in gardening is welcome to a garden spot at The Laura Miller George Help Center. We provide not only the garden spot but water, seeds if you need them, garden tools and expert advice and support! Applications are available at the Help Center.
This year we have our own greenhouse and will be growing fresh vegetables to be distributed during the food distribution schedules.
The Community Garden steering committee consists of these active partners who support a self-reliant community: Grow Well Missouri, The University of Missouri Agronomy, MU Extension, The City of Mexico, Mexico Housing Authority, Audrain County Health Department, Central Missouri Community Action, Audrain County Master Gardeners, Mexico Federated Garden Club, Community volunteers and the Laura Miller George Help Center.
Serving Our Senior Citizens
"This institution is an equal opportunity provider"
We have seen the great disparity in the number of senior citizens who are recipients of the services we provide. There are potentially many reasons for this but we think perhaps one of the biggest is the lack of transportation. That’s why we’re so excited about our newest program, the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP). Or more commonly know as the “Senior Box” program. We’re able to provide approximately $50.00 worth of food, (35lbs.) which is high in nutritional value, once per month and we can deliver it right to door of our seniors if needed. Eligibility for this program: you must be a resident of Audrain County, be 60 years of age or older and have a household income of 130% or less of the poverty level. If you or someone you know is living on a fixed income and needs food, give us a call and we’ll see if you qualify and if so you could be receiving a box very soon! In cooperation with the USDA. The MO. DHSS & The Food Bank for Central & Northeast MO. If you would like to volunteer to help with this great program, please see the volunteering tab on this website.
We are pleased to be partially funded by The United Way of Audrain County, Charitable Foundations, churches, and individuals. Also we would like to thank Shadora Foy, owner of Growing in Christ, for creating our website.
